Personal evolution
Mar. 14th, 2004 07:17 pmI was thinking today about how much I've changed through out my life. Sometimes I don't even know when or how a change happened; it occurred so gradually that I didn't notice it happening.
For example, I remember babysitting for a family when I was very young, and I was scared of their cats. Looking back, they were just enthusiastic kittens, nothing malicious in them, but I was scared. Now, I live with two cats, including a kitten I delibrately went out to find. The kid I was would've never imagined I'd be living with cats!
Also, food things: I didn't like pickles or olives growing up. And I liked MacDonald's food when I was really young.
The kid I was 10 years ago was smart, mature for 15, and imaginative. But she couldn't have guessed where I am, who I am. Too many things separate us.
I find it all interesting because it means I don't necessarily know who I'll be in 10 years. It is exciting to think that I am not destined to be forever who I am in this moment.
