Some dirty laundry

Does anyone else listen to ZFM in Vancouver?

I listen to the radio at work. I try to ignore the inane chit-chat of the DJs. I chose the current station for the ignorability of the DJs. But, a day or two ago, the afternoon guy caught my attention:

"I should have known my marriage was in trouble when my wife decided this was her new favourite song."

And I know that he knows I'm unfaithful
And it kills him inside
To know that I am happy with some other guy
I can see him dyin'
*

"That's an interesting way to introduce a song," I say to myself, since there's no one else in my office to say it to, before returning to my fascinating credit card charges.

The DJ returns: "When your wife tells you she wants a divorce because she's fallen in love with your best friend, I'd say it qualifies as a bad day."

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
~

The afternoon guy appears to be taking the rest of the week off.

*"Unfaithful", Rihanna
~"Bad Day", Daniel Powter

Gosh, I wonder why.

I wonder if it was his idea or the station's.

Those are, in fact, two of the twelve signs that you are having a bad day. At least they are better than that pesky mushroom cloud thing.

And a vast improvement over catching the ebola virus.

It is all about perspective.

I like that Rhianna song....

Really? I wouldn't have thought it was to your taste.

More the content than the style, but its a decent song.

...and she's hawt :p

Gotta love when DJ's try and talk . . .

[identity profile] dreamhope.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
I keep having to change radio stations because there's too much stupid chatter. Especially the idiots who can't shut up about their rant-of-choice every single day. They talk as if being on a rock station gives them some sort of special authority.

I want satellite radio so bad, but it won't work in my cave of an office.

Aww thats too bad it doesn't work! We're really lucky to have a great NPR station with great programs. :D

Internet Radio, in itunes just a idea

[identity profile] dreamhope.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Tried that. Doesn't work - my work computer is pathetic.

This just adds credence to my view that most DJs could easily be replaced by an MP3 player on shuffle play.

[identity profile] rythos42.livejournal.com 2006-07-06 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I was going to say no, they couldn't because shuffle play isn't really all that good. But then I remembered that the DJ shuffle play isn't really all that good either. So now I agree with you.

And the MP3 probably has a higher IQ than the DJ anyway.

Listening to radio has convinced me that there is such a thing as negative IQs.

And the MP3 probably has a higher IQ than the DJ anyway.

And a higher IQ then most of the people who call in to the radio stations too.

That's actually my current plan: my partner has a cheap MP3 player that I can have. I just need to load it up. I just haven't gotten around to that task yet.
