Can you fly?

In a dream, the ground drops slowly away and you float into the sky, or you launch yourself into the air powerfully, and you glide and soar through the air, and maybe your clothes flap around you or maybe you're naked, and maybe you fly like Superman or flap angel's wings or swim like a fish through the clear air and misty clouds, and it isn't like a trampoline or like the brief flight off the height of a swing's arc because there's no pull down, down to the earth, down to reality, down to the sore feet and the heaviness, and there's flight without fall, and freedom without consequence, and how do we know how to fly anyway?

I rarely get to have dreams where I fly. I know some people that have them quite often. Must be nice.

I ride on thermals, I think.
I used to have flying dreams a lot, I was always trying to get away from something that was about to catch me so I would run as fast as I could and lift off, barely staying out of the reach of who or whatever was chasing me.
After I married years went by before I had another flying dream. I guess, whatver I was trying to get away from was my life before my husband saved me.

I can fly in dreams. I launch by jumping really high, and just not coming back down. The trick is to remember that I knew how to fly all along, I had just forgotten I knew.

i have this recurring dream that i can... levitate i guess. I put my hands just above the ground, focus really hard and push all this energy out of my palms and start floating. eventually i can move around and stop using my hands, but it's pretty cool.

sometimes i think that maybe i can do this in real life but i am too afraid to try, either out of failure or just that i'll look crazy!
