- Yeah and thanks to [livejournal.com profile] misselaineeous for new underwear!

- Dinner out and a chance to see my Oma. She looks better then the last time I saw her, so that was really nice.

- Russ and I found another neighbourhood we'd be willing to live in (part of Strathcona). We wandered around, and there's some really nice houses and lots of work being done. And the streets just had a nice vibe, especially along the 600 and 700 blocks of Union and of Pacific.

- It was nice to spend time alone with Russ in the car to and from Beltane and while walking around Strathcona. We laughed a lot.

- Lots of creative stuff going on in my house, though it has resulted in a bit of a mess. I sure am glad that nothing's happening at my house this week!

- The ants have retreated!

- My part of the Gathering confirmation package is done and has been sent to the Board for final checks and comments. I should be able to mail/email them starting the first Tuesday in May!

- Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] tareija, could I get Eats, Shoots and Leaves back from you tommorow at drumming? My dad is really eager to read it.

- The weather this weekend was simply gorgeous! I got to pull out my sun hat and I didn't wear a jacket today.

On those happy notes, I'm off to bed now!

I'll try to find Eats, Shoots and Leaves to give to you tonight. It's buried somewhere in The Piles of Stuff, and I haven't actually read it yet, so I doubt I will soon. Thanks for loaning it to me though! :)

Oh yeah - and Strathcona can be really cool, although I found it less convenient for transit than Commercial. However, on Commercial we are spoiled as far as transit is concerned, so yeah.

I hear you on the transit thing; Commercial Drive is great for transit users. Mind you, where I am now, it is a 10 minute walk to the Drive's buses and the Skytrain, and the area of Strathcona we like the most is on the Knight bus route, same as my current place. And I could still walk to and from work.

Not ideal, perhaps, but Russ loved the area we were looking at, so we're hopeful something affordable will come up. It looks like the duplex on Prior that you brought to my attention on MLS is long sold (we couldn't even find a "sold" sign in the area), but we emailed Lisa about it anyway.

The one thing I did find about Strathcona was that there are more sketchy people around than where we are now, that is, it's a shorter walk from the Downtown Eastside. For instance, yes the Knight bus route goes along Prior, but Prior tends to be more dark and rather deserted at night (very few businesses etc around), than up here. I've also found property crime to be more of an issue there than it is here (although of course it happens here too.)

Mind you, to be fair, I haven't lived there in a few years, so my information may not be accurate anymore, and/or I might just be a wuss. The area has many good points as well. I know Tea has had quite a few problems with break ins to her car and house, but she freely admits that it is probably because she is always broke and has never had money to put a fence up in her backyard, and thus she has the only backyard open to the alleyway on her street.

That being said, I have known women who lived in that area and have never had a problem, and I know many people who think the area is fabulous.
