So I can find it again

Because I just spent 10 minutes re-tracing my steps through various journals to find this link to find this word and definition, I'll post it here where I can find it again:

"There is a new term for the opposite of jealousy. Compersion is the feeling of joy that comes from knowing that the one you love is well loved by someone else."

Compersion

Very long story - VERY short version:

Way back when, I found a girlfriend for my husband (a friend of ours) - they had lots of fun. That first week was wonderful. The three of us got together once at the end of their first week together and did a little Chinese tea ceremony together . . . i felt such compersion. I was soooo happy for him. I just KNEW it would feel this way. :)

But unfortunately, they didn't truly comprehend that i was actually willing to share my husband for the rest of my life, and she decided she wanted him for herself. Quick to the end . . . he dumped me for her.

Anyway - the reason for this post - was just to say that, if only for just a short while, i felt compersion, and it is such a wonderful feeling. I look forward to having the opportunity to feel it again. (I could go into why i'm not at that place right now - it's NOT because of that last fiasco - but that's a whole n'uther post) :)

Cool. Isn't it marvelous? :)

I hadn't even heard of polyamoury, let alone a word for what i was feeling at that time.

It is a wonderful feeling. When I first came across the term "compersion", I was sort of relieved, because the fact that there was a word for it meant I wasn't the only one who had felt it.

Thank you for sharing your story!
